Explore our interactive dashboards and tools
The RESPONSIBLE project Toolbox brings together a set of interactive dashboards and methodological tools designed to generate empirical evidence on scientific activity, its internal dynamics, and its relationship with society. These tools enable the exploration of data in a transparent, contextualised, and reusable way, supporting a more informed and responsible understanding of how scientific knowledge is produced and disseminated.
Rather than providing closed indicators, rankings, or decontextualised judgements, the tools included in the Toolbox facilitate descriptive and relational analyses. They are designed to examine patterns, inequalities, trajectories, and connections between people, institutions, scientific outputs, and their social circulation. All tools are based on normalised data and integrate multiple information sources in a coherent manner, offering complementary perspectives on research activity.
The tools included in the Toolbox should not be understood in isolation, but rather as components of a shared analytical ecosystem. From this perspective, the Toolbox currently brings together analytical exploration dashboards and a methodological tool, which can be used independently or in combination, depending on the analytical needs.
In addition to the dashboards, the Toolbox includes PREMAP, a web-based application developed within the RESPONSIBLE project to guide the preprocessing of scientific data in bibliometric studies and knowledge mapping.
PREMAP operates at a critical stage of the analytical workflow: the preparation and normalisation of data prior to analysis and visualisation. It supports processes such as keyword cleaning and consolidation, the reduction of morphological noise, and temporal segmentation, always under the control and validation of the researcher.
This tool strengthens the transparency, traceability, and reproducibility of analyses and complements the Toolbox dashboards by ensuring that empirical evidence is built on methodologically robust data.
The Toolbox is fully embedded within the framework of responsible metrics, aligning with international initiatives such as DORA and CoARA, which promote a contextualised, reflective, and transparent use of scientific data. The tools presented here:
Do not replace expert judgement or qualitative analyses.
Do not produce automated evaluations or normative classifications.
Provide empirical evidence open to interpretation, adaptable to different institutional, analytical, and social contexts.
Each dashboard and methodological tool is designed for use by researchers, research managers, institutional leaders, information professionals, and interested citizens, fostering a data-informed culture of analysis that is attentive to its limitations, biases, and contexts of production.
